Accessibility on Heimstaden’s digital platforms
At Heimstaden, we believe everyone should be able to access and engage with our digital platforms, regardless of ability. That is why we are committed to creating inclusive online experiences that reflect both our Friendly approach and our design standards.
Our digital content follows the principles outlined in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), an internationally recognised framework for making web content more usable for people with diverse abilities. We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA across our platforms.
Why Accessibility Matters
Accessibility is more than a legal requirement; it is a design mindset. From colour contrast and typography to page structure and navigation, we build with accessibility in mind to ensure that:
• Content is perceivable, with clear contrast and readable fonts.
• Interfaces are operable, including with assistive technology.
• Information is understandable, using clear structure and language.
• Systems are robust, and compatible across devices and technologies.
This approach allows us to offer digital services that are not only inclusive but also intuitive and aligned with our brand identity.
Design and Accessibility
We continuously assess how our brand colours; layouts and visuals perform in digital settings.
We believe that accessible design enhances, not limits, creativity. By supporting accessibility as a design strategy, we improve the user experience for everyone.
PDFs and Documents
Wherever possible, we publish content directly on the website rather than as PDFs. When PDFs are necessary, we ensure they meet WCAG accessibility requirements and follow industry best practices for screen-reader compatibility and tagging.
Images and Media
We provide meaningful alternative text for images that convey information. Decorative elements are markets appropriately, so they do not distract or confuse users navigating with assistive technologies.
Continuous Improvement
We are committed to ongoing improvements and welcome feedback. If you encounter an accessibility issue on our site, please contact us (communications@heimstaden.com) so we can continue to make our digital services better for everyone.
