Are you completely or partially without power?
Have all the electronics stopped and it has become dark in all or part of the apartment? If the power has shorted out and you feel uncertain about what should be done, you can troubleshoot the problem by using our guide attached below:
1. First check whether the problem applies to the whole building or is most likely only in your apartment. If it is dark both for the neighbors and in the stairwell, there may be a bigger problem in the power grid.
2. Find the the fuse box which is usually located in the hallway or in a wardrobe.
- The fuse box has buttons that turn off by falling down if the system becomes overloaded. These are usually found in newer or recently renovated homes. It is easy to see which fuse has blown when it is switched off.
- Older fuse boxes are usually found in slightly older homes, and contain fuses that break if they trip, which then need to be replaced.
4. In addition to fuses, an earth fault breaker is also installed. Should it be the case that no fuses have blown, you can check whether the remaining circuit breaker is not in off-mode. If this is the case, then just slide it up to on-mode. The remaining power switch may turn off, leaving you without access to power. In such a case, you should first turn it on again, as there may have been a temporary disturbance. Otherwise, follow the instructions and test the fuse.
5. Did you remember to pay the electricity bill? If the electricity bill is not paid, the electricity company can turn off access to the electricity. If this is the problem, pay unpaid invoices and contact your electricity supplier.
Watch this video on how to turn on the power.
